FAQ's

What is your approach to dog training?

Hunter Canine utilizes a state-of-the-art reward based balanced training methodology. This means that we start and teach mostly everything with positive reinforcement (treat or toy rewards) and then we use an open tool box system to achieve realistic results so you don't always have to carry treats! Our promise to our clients is that your dog(s) will never be subject to inhumane pain or fear when training with us. We may utilize training tools such as prong collars and e-collars, however we utilize these tools in modern and humane ways that simply teach your dog how to work through and navigate discomfort, just as us humans work through and navigate discomforts and stressors in life!

Furthermore, Our approach to dog training is "train the dog in front of you". We do not categorize Hunter Canine as "purely positive" or "punishment based". The reason for this is that all dogs are complete and total individuals just like humans. Each dog feels, thinks, and learns differently than the next dog. Therefore, each training program may look completely different than the rest. Our training program is not limited in techniques, and the fully customized training program is reflective of that.

What type of dogs do you train?

We train dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes, and all types of issues. We've trained disabled dogs, reactive dogs, resource guarders, dogs with separation anxiety, and fearful dogs.

Is my pet too old to be trained?

No! We've coached owners to raise puppies, adolescent, and even senior dogs! It truly does not matter the age of your dog. Progress can be made as long as you are committed to helping them with our coaching.
